🌸 Day 3: Sangla Holi Special

Full Day Holi – Holi in Sangla is unlike anywhere else in India — a soulful blend of joy, tradition, and mountain simplicity. Here, the festival is not just about colours, but about community, connection, and celebration with nature.

As the apple orchards begin to bloom and snow still caps the higher peaks, Sangla transforms into a valley of life. Villagers gather in vibrant traditional attire, playing Holi with dry organic colours, flowers, and music instead of chemical powders.

The air fills with the rhythm of Kinnauri drums (dhol, nagara) and the soft chants of local folk songs. Men and women dance in circles, performing traditional Nati — the folk dance of Himachal — with infectious laughter and slow, graceful movements.

Visitors are often welcomed warmly to join in, share local food, and experience the genuine hospitality of the Kinnauri people. The festival is celebrated not only as a symbol of colour and joy, but also as a tribute to the arrival of spring, marking the end of the harsh winter months.

During Holi, Sangla feels timeless — snow peaks above, green valleys below, and bursts of colour and music echoing between them.
